- This book is a long-form output which discusses the profound implications of recent numerous archival discoveries about the Shakespeare family, their friends and neighbours. It uses these previously-overlooked sources to set that family and its Stratford context into the larger picture of Warwickshire social and political conflicts for the first time, filling a previously large gap in William Shakespeare’s biography while linking these local contexts to important national political and religious struggles. The book’s innovative findings result from a lengthy investigation of materials regarding Shakespeare’s exposure to Elizabethan government and politics before his early adult years.
