- Shortlisted for both the 2018 Wolfson and Cundill History Prizes, the book is the culmination of over 15 years research into the German-Jewish war experience. The study is grounded in archival research, utilising material from more than 20 different repositories in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States and Israel. It challenges conventional approaches to the conflict by giving voice to German Jews at home and at the front. In doing so, the study also reconsiders the place of the Jewish communities within Germany, viewing them not at the margins, but rather as a fundamental part of German society.
