- Lateness and Modern European Literature is a longer-form output of c. 185,000 words. Research for this monograph was undertaken over three years (2011-14), with the help of a Philip Leverhulme Prize and a Visiting Professorship at the Université de Paul Valéry Montpellier 3 (2012-13). Its broad comparative argument required an extremely wide range of reading in major and minor texts across four languages – English, French, German, Italian – as well as the translation of numerous substantial excerpts into English.
