- This paper modelled the operation in dynamic mode of Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage, including the filling and emptying of pressurized gas storage tanks as well as the heat storage within packed beds. This enabled useful estimates to be made in a techno-economic evaluation which assisted Storelectric Ltd [contact available] when they were seeking funding for a demonstration scale plant of an original concept of utility-scale hydrogen storage. This work was also key in enabling the modelling of UK-scale seasonal storage of energy in saline aquifers (DOI: 10.1038/s41560-018-0311-0).
