- Double-weighted statement
- This is an 80,000 word monograph and is the result of a PhD thesis (3 years) plus one year post-doctoral research. It considers a wide range of primary material produced over a period of 40 years, and incorporates a range of different critical perspectives, from critical theory of the 50s and 60s, to performance studies, media theory and film philosophy. Some of the primary material is difficult to access (for example the 406 notebooks the monograph covers), requiring research trips to Paris and written permission from Artaud's nephew.
