- This paper positions `effort' as a useful property of design in the context of interpersonal communication tools and has motivated others to consider effort as a useful property of design (e.g. Koleva et al., TOCHI’20; Kim et al, CSCW’19). Published at a world-leading HCI conference (CSCW, acceptance rate 28%), the paper won an honourable mention award. The paper led to a developing collaboration with researchers at Google (User Experience Researcher, Google, details on request) supported an EPSRC grant submission. This paper led to both Gooch and Kelly being invited as Associate Chairs of CSCW.
