- Double-weighted statement
- This book demonstrates sustained research effort, based on in-depth qualitative research, encompassing three years of participant observation in open youth work settings, supplemented by interviews of up to three hours in length and a series of three two-hour participatory focus groups. Although part-timers carry out the majority of youth work, this is the first and only study since 1984 to focus on this group. The book includes five distinct empirical chapters, investigating and analysing in depth the experiences of grassroots youth workers in a policy climate theorised as marketised, managerial and performative.
