- Chloride binding can significantly improve the durability of concrete structures exposed to chloride environment. Numerous studies have been reported on OPS concrete regarding chloride binding. With increasing use of FA/GGBS in concrete, it becomes necessary to understand how FA/GGBS affects chloride binding. This paper is one of the few pioneered studies in this field, which discovered the negative influence of FA/GGBS on the stability of bound chlorides in concrete. The innovative work lead to an "Excellent Research Prize" awarded to the first author by Science and Technology Department of Zhejiang Province and a follow-up research grant by NNSF of China.
