- This study, funded by EU FP7 PASSPORT Liver, has impacted the state of the art by enhancing the capacity of our previously developed opensource GPU-based FE solver toolkit, NiftySim (http://niftysim.sourceforge.net), for surgical simulation, which significantly outperformed equivalent commercial packages in execution time. The toolkits led to a wider range of applications in soft tissue simulations (breast, liver, lung and prostate) and a number of research grants (EPSRC Grant MIMIC(EP/K020439/1, FP7 VPH-PRISM(FP7-ICT-2011-9,601040)).
