- A distributed joint power allocation and pairing selection scheme in next generation mobile systems including device-to-device communications (D2D) is introduced by employing a max-min message passing algorithm. This work is significant because it proposes a method that addresses the shortcomings of centralized and other distributed schemes and changes the NP-hard problem of pairing the D2D users to a novel distributed method with a tractable complexity. This work was a part of an EPSRC project (Kingston University), has the potential to be used in 5G networks, and two MSc projects (Saman Mahmoodi, Rezvan Ghyasvand) are mainly inspired by this paper.
