- The definitive documentation of body and performance art by Dennis Oppenheim (1938-2011). Research required attending to complex primary source material in Oppenheim's private, complete archive in New York, and working remotely on digitized material, to determine the definitive records of Oppenheim's actions, almost exclusively executed for camera and text rather than live audience. This required extended analysis of a large body of primary source material, including images, texts, diaries, unpublished notebooks, and video as well as the full body of relevant published material. Within Conceptual art and performance, these records then come to comprise the works; hence their definitive nature.
