- This is a research monograph and a “longer-form output”. It includes 273 pages and approx. 115K words. It was researched for two years (2011-2013) in Spanish archives (Madrid, Malaga, San Sebastian, Zaragoza, Barcelona). The primary sources used are unpublished letters and reports, contemporary newspapers, published memoirs, and a range of secondary sources. Within the framework of a chronological structure and thanks to its focus on leadership and war, the book provides an innovative examination of how the politics of the 'home front' were impacted by the civil war (and in turn impacted upon it).
