- On South Bank: the production of public space (2014) is a book based on extensive field research and the collection of various corpora of in-depth primary data (including fieldnotes, ‘intercept interview’ data, and ‘expert interview’ data). These data were collected primarily over a four-year period (2003-7), though they comprise materials collected both before and after this main fieldwork period. The book presents an ethnographic account of the production of urban public space, analysing the redevelopment of London’s ‘South Bank’ over time and through an in-depth engagement with several themes (including the privatisation of public space, play, and borders/boundaries in space).
