- This 280-page single-authored monograph demonstrates extensive and sustained research effort, and the collection and analysis of a significant and extended body of material. It offers the first full-length analysis of the development of historical writing relating to the medieval English peasantry over the past 150 years. Based on over a decade’s work in the extensive relevant historiography the author has analysed the full corpus of relevant writing from the later nineteenth century until the present, covering several hundred works of institutional and legal history, economic and social science history, as well as cultural history.
