- This collections of essays, published in the prestigious series 'Texts and Transitions' under the aegis of the Early Book Society, brings together key articles on three major aspects of editing Middle English texts that have formed the core of scholar William Marx's career: religious, historical and literary texts. As co-organiser of the conference and co-editor of the volume Radulescu was responsible for selecting the papers, commissioning the revised and expanded versions, and editing, while Radulescu also co-wrote the introduction and her own chapter (9,000 words). The theoretical nature of many of the chapters precluded writing an extensive introduction and, as is customary in the field, as a festschrift, this volume aimed to bring together the best scholarship in textual editing. Each of the contributions either revises principles of editing or addresses a critical crux in current trends in editing early texts, thus providing a set of new directions in this complex field.
