- This long-form output reports on a mixed methods three-year project by two universities and involving several non-academic research partners/data owners. A large body of material has been collected and analysed, drawing on four primary data sources: court files and administrative records (both are difficult to access and link); social care case files; and interviews and focus groups (including the differing perspectives of local authority managers and judges). This innovative, complex and extended research follows longitudinally two cohorts of children, investigating outcomes in relation to different contexts: children in care, children returned to parents or kin, and adopted children.
