- <28> This paper led to the subsequent formation of a consortium involving Ulster University, National University of Ireland Galway, and Kansas State University, and successfully funded a US-Ireland (STL/5521/19) and Medical Research Council grant (MC_PC_20021). It also underpinned a PhD scholarship (Alireza Poshtkohi) at Ulster working on computational modelling of micro-glial cells and led to a full-time, academic appointment for the first author (Dr. Junxiu Liu) at Ulster University.
