- Museum Representations of Chinese Diasporas is the first book to analyse the recent upsurge in museums on Chinese diasporas in China. The data on which this book is based come from the author’s longitudinal and multi-sited ethnographic research on over ten Chinese museums conducted in the period from 2009 to 2017. A holistic method was used, including museum visits, in-depth interviews with museum practitioners, scholars and government officials as well as informal interviews with museum audiences, combined with historical and archival studies. It sheds new light on the dynamic between China and Chinese diasporas through the lens of the museum.
