- Abigail Parry acted as the primary editor of the work, researching the Cuban author’s eight collections and selecting the material for this edition. This involved significant contextual research into Cuban history, culture, literature, folklore and slang, and also involved travelling to and exploring the locations of the poems in Havana in order to get a sense of place for the final versions of the translations. As the poet in the collaboration, Parry produced the first rough translations of the poems which were then developed in conversation with the co-editor and co-translator, who has specialist expertise in Cuban Spanish and Cuban cultural history. Parry was responsible for producing the final versions of the translations and for the Notes section. She was also the lead author for communication with the publisher.
