- This anthology (622 pages) involved extensive archival research that identified, collated and analyzed 221 primary sources. These were edited and placed in context and include detailed annotations. The contents include diverse genres including: gardening manuals, theological and philosophical treatises, advices books on farming, hunting and animal husbandry, works on weather events and forestry management, travel narratives, country house poems, recipe books, and more. These texts are set within a conceptual framework through the introduction which is itself a fully developed research article, that presents a rigorous examination environmental history and ecocriticism, the early Anthropocene, and notions of literary periodisation.
