- Double-weighted statement
- This book represents five years of research and study into the work of arguably the country’s leading
composer and one of the most prominent voices in contemporary music. It draws together all the
existing scholarship and posits much new research, including unpublished and withdrawn pieces and early sketches. It asks broader questions relating to nationalism, politics and faith and how these are reflected in wider society. It is the detailed archival research, unfettered access to the composer and originality of this first academic study that it should be double-weighted for REF 2020.
