- This book brings together interviews, film scores and facsimile reproductions from fanzines and other sources, with both old and newly-commissioned essays by contemporary academics and filmmakers to add to the critical discussion of Austrian avant-garde filmmaker Kurt Kren’s legacy. Nicky Hamlyn was responsible for the original idea for the book, and subsequently invited A.L. Rees and latterly Simon Payne to co-edit the volume. Hamlyn was solely responsible for working with the publisher towards the book’s completion. Hamlyn and Payne were responsible for editing the contributions. Hamlyn also contributed three sole-authored chapters to the volume which constitute detailed analyses of films by this important filmmaker. The book was launched with a screening event, for which a number of Kren’s films were hired especially.
