- In collaboration with experts in computational fluid dynamics, this work introduces a number of novel features in tensor fields. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper to identify, extract, and visualise a special class of degenerate surfaces in tensor fields. It has significant implications in a number of application areas, including computational fluid dynamics, fluid mechanics and geo-physics. We apply our analysis to data from solid and fluid mechanics, as well as scalar field analysis. This work is a collaboration across four universities and three subject areas.
