- MG was a Co-Investigator, contributed to the design and the interpretation of findings and led the development of the narrative SMS component, and the related PPI. The BMJ paper is based on the final study report published by NIHR Journals Library (https://doi.org/10.3310/phr08110). Dr Grindle Co-wrote the final study report and provided Intellectual input to drafts of the BMJ paper including contribution to the discussion, interpretation, accurate reporting of evidence and findings and the responses to referee’s comments. With respect to the study itself, Dr Grindle contributed to the initial bid to NIHR based on knowledge and experience on previous digital narrative SMS interventions and his own digital narrative approach to health interventions. He led the development of the narrative SMS arm of the 12-month intervention, led all PPI related to the development of the narrative SMS arm, wrote all narrative SMS in consultation with key stakeholders for the 12-month intervention, led all PPI related to the key messages and related behaviour change theories and techniques and selected and incorporated appropriate behaviour change theories and techniques and blended key messages into the narrative SMS with consultation with the research team, key stakeholders and PPI. In addition, he contributed to the development of the underlying logical model, Monitored the daily dissemination of narrative SMS to participants. MG also contributed to the overall study design, recruitment and the interpretation of the qualitative findings.
