- This monograph (c170,000 words) tackles a complex and fragmentary text and its multifarious reception through adaptation and integration in diverse works from late antiquity; thus its evaluation as a literary unity is especially difficult. Literary analysis required first-hand study of the primary manuscript (Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana). Five years of research and discussions at international scholarly meetings underpin this first long-form study of ‘de Lingua Latina’ as a literary output.
