- This innovative paper is a part of studies to develop the ontology-based method in computer-aided tolerancing (CAT). We are currently developing two APPs for IMA Ltd., a UK leading provider of training in Geometrical Tolerancing (iain@macleod.co.uk). The APP’s aim is to provide a quick and unambiguously way for industries to use the ISO GPS in drawing/ manufacturing/measurment of a workpiece: through image recognition of drawing symbols, taking the user to the relevant information, in the APP, for understanding and usage. The ontology-based method, developed in this paper, was used to develop the database of the expert system of these APPs
