- Nature Cover Story article reporting the first randomized trial of normothermic machine perfusion in liver transplantation. Reported by all major news media including the BBC, SkyNews, LATimes with a 503 Altmetric score. Based on this evidence, machine perfusion was endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in January 2019 and the NIHR funded two further clinical studies (NIHR201003, GBP1,700,000 & NIHR131163, GBP1,200,000) for nationwide utilization and organ defattening studies. Lead author doctoral student received the 2017 Medawaar Medal by the British Transplantation Society and the 2017 Rising Star International Liver Transplantation Society award for this work.
