- This monograph is related to the major AHRC project Jewish Lives, Scottish Spaces. The amassing of a corpus of archival materials, including personal correspondence, necessitated extensive scoping of the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre, the Hartley Library in Southampton and the London Metropolitan Archives where the papers of the London Beth Din and the Chief Rabbi’s Office are held, largely untapped. The analysis rested on the integration of transnational migration history with the discussion of local and regional Jewish religious concerns; hence. the relevant literature spanned several complex fields.
