- Double-weighted statement
- This 82,000-word biography comprises entirely original, previously unpublished material. With the exception of two short sketches on the subject’s life, there was no published material on the subject, and the biography entailed two years of sustained and substantial primary research, including archival, textual, historical and family history investigation, and the extensive collection of oral history. This included in-depths research in archives in Wales, England, Israel and South Africa, and the analysis of a substantial body of correspondence. The selection and interpretation of this material also entailed wider research in complex overlapping national and international social, literary and political contexts.
