- This edition of two key 16th century documents of Mexican early colonial (ethno)history is based on a collaborative venture that aims at providing new perspectives on Mexican ethnohistorical studies. The individual as well as critical and synoptic transcriptions of the two manuscripts are accompanied by a multi-methodological study on the source-related challenges of the documents and their textual construction: organisation and interrelation of the texts, questions about their origin, authorship, intention and motivation as well as historiographical aspects. It becomes clear that these documents are two individual texts, a result which will influence Mexican native and early colonial historiography.
