- Pitkin has been involved in the analysis of gravitational wave data and developing software to interpret the LIGO signals. As well as making some contributions to the Bayesian inference software used by the collaboration for the results in this paper, Pitkin played a major role in leading the review of the software's correctness. He led the review of the output of the software for this paper, i.e., the inferred probability distributions on the source parameter (e.g., black hole masses and the system's distance), which were used to make astrophysical inferences.
