- This book is based on exhaustive underpinning research in order to provide an in-depth discussion of the links between gender equality and economic competitiveness. The findings are grounded in a considerable amount of in situ fieldwork in Malaysia stretching back the best part of a decade, including repeat trips to research sites to ensure the inclusion of the most up-to-date insights. Much of the research was conducted during a three-year ‘Future Fellowship’ awarded by the Australian Research Council, the analysis being grounded in the extensive fieldwork data (including 30+ interviews, observational data and documentary analysis) enabled by this research funding.
