- This output is the product of a large five-year programme of research by a multi-disciplinary, multi-university research team. The programme included: (i) two randomised controlled trials, (ii) a series of studies to provide evidence on prevalence of incontinence, plus development and testing of a complex intervention to promote continence and manage incontinence with people with dementia living at home; (iii) studies on improving care of people with dementia dying in care homes; (iv) studies on the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 in practice; and (v) a pilot of a research register for people with dementia, and their carers.
