- This book brings together a series of empirical studies carried out over nine years drawing on methods including content analysis of award-winning journalism and routine news coverage; thematic analysis of social media posts; in-depth interviews with journalists, and focus groups with news audience members. It develops a new conceptual framework for the analysis of the relationship between emotions, media and politics. The book draws on research published in five peer-reviewed articles and nine book chapters not submitted to REF. Work gathered in the book has been presented in sixteen keynotes addresses, seven invited research seminars and numerous international conference presentations.
