- This study uses numerical modelling to analyse the behaviour of a complex system known as distributed acoustic sensor (DAS). The model has been used to improve the performance of a DAS system by an order of magnitude (https://doi.org/10.1364/OE.27.009684). This work has been presented at 25th Optical Fibre Sensor Conference (OFS25) as an invited talk. It has led to a Royal Society fund (CHL\R1\180350: £490,769). Furthermore, Saudi Aramco has contacted us with an interest to further developing the numerical model and the DAS interrogating unit with potential £3,000,000 research grant, pending decision (contact Karam Chand (karam.chand@aramco.com)).
