- The work published in the paper was a collaborative work between one industry (Silson Ltd, UK), one R&D institute (TWI, UK) and BUL. It was a feasibility study where Chromium coated Si3N4 thin membrane was proposed as an electron beam exit widow. A set of experimental results conducted Silson and TWI and a set of multi-physics FEM simulation performed at BUL were published. The successful results obtained from this work has led for a grant proposal for a graphene based electron beam exit window for superior performance was submitted to EU FP7 graphene flagship call in 2016.
