- This prize-winning monograph of 207pp. shows sustained research effort through an extended cultural historical analysis of rock music in contemporary British and American cinema from the 1960s to the present, analysing in detail over 30 films. The research was done over several years and included tracing copies of obscure films (for the Blaxploitation chapters) and using 'grey market' music recordings, sometimes of doubtful provenance, notably for the Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and copyright chapters. The last chapter required the painstaking effort of trying to acquire an uncensored version of Bad Lieutenant, as original versions were obsolete or had been destroyed.
