- Unlike previous studies that were restricted to outdoor environments, this study applied our Tranquillity Rating Prediction Tool to interior spaces. It demonstrated that it is possible to improve tranquillity in challenging situations where patients are often under stress waiting for GP appointments. The results were recently used to promote the need for natural scenes and appropriate quiet soundscapes in waiting areas of a new urology unit at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and presented at the Yorkshire and North East Branch Evening Meeting organised by the Institute of Acoustics (Sep. 2019).
