- Motivational Currents in Language Learning: Frameworks for Focused Interventions is the first book-length (222 pages) exploration of a novel theoretical framework: directed motivational currents (DMCs). It presents a detailed literature review in support of and clarifying key areas of the framework, extending past writing on the topic and cementing the importance and relevance of DMC theory in our understanding of long-term motivation. The book concludes with seven proposed ‘frameworks for future interventions’, taking initial steps to develop practical applications of DMC theory in the context of instructed language learning and teaching.
