- It is believed that full-duplex (FD) communication is a promising new technology in heterogeneous FD cellular networks. This work is significant because it shows that a hybrid FD/HD can perform better than a pure FD network and proposes a hybrid duplex “mode selection” scheme for such networks based on the achieved delay and energy efficiency analysis. This idea can be used by operators in 5G and beyond cellular systems. As a consequence of this paper, one PhD project (Amirhosein Hajihoseini) was performed, and four journal papers (10.1109/JSYST.2020.3036275, 10.1109/TMC.2020.3017137, 10.1109/MCOM.2017.1600361CM, 10.1016/j.phycom.2019.03.006) were published in collaboration with King’s College London.
