- This 75,000-word co-authored book reflects sustained research effort around gender and urbanisation in the global South drawing on different aspects of the authors’ research and international policy work. It introduces a new conceptual framework, the ‘gender-urban-slum-interface’, which shapes the discussions within seven of the ten chapters which focus on a specific empirical topic. Collectively, the chapters address a large body of material that includes original research combined with analysis of existing debates, drawing critically on a wide range of literature. The book covers a huge and complex geographical area with examples taken from across the global South.
