- The paper proposes a novel physical mechanism of the dynamical wave-mean flow interaction in water waves and develops general mathematical framework for its description. This is a new take on a long-standing and fundamental problem of fluid mechanics. The work has been presented at multiple invited talks including the British Applied Mathematics Colloquium in 2018 (St Andrews, UK), the 11th IMACS International Conference on Nonlinear Waves (Athens, Georgia, USA) and the 9th International Conference on Solitons, Collapses and Turbulence (Yaroslavl, Russia). This work has led to the Simons Fellowship for T. Congy from the Isaac Newton Institute, Cambridge.
