- The Proletarian Answer to the Modernist Question, and its central thesis that proletarian literature – far from being antithetical to modernism – is a politicised form of modernism that resolves certain of its internal flaws, is a full-length monograph that was the product of sustained research, analysis and writing from 2011 through to submission in January 2017. It entailed extensive research of primary and secondary sources (requiring frequent use of a copyright library) and the sustained development of critical insight and argument concerning not just the field but also its complicated reception history.
