- Double-weighted statement
- This substantial monograph is based on extensive primary research involving numerous archives from several countries. The quantity and reach of the original history presented and the arguments advanced, the book is equivalent to four journal articles. It presents the first dedicated history of the reorganisation and work of British defence intelligence following the Second World War. Its core chapters, beyond presenting the history of the defence intelligence machinery, offer novel and significant insights into the interdisciplinary, international, and very secret effort to learn about the Soviet Union’s science, technology, and topography, and how these influenced Britain’s Cold War.
