- This monograph is an original, extensive, study of an iconic phenomenon, distinguished by the calibre of its novel interpretation and critical argument, as well as the ‘afterlife’ method which structures the book: from discovery and reception, to conservation practice and philosophy, bog landscapes and climate change, material culture and forensic analysis, to museum display. Its rigour lies in novel archival work and new primary analysis and dating of the ‘Worsley Man’ bog body. Sustained research depth is also evidenced in the most comprehensive international survey of bog finds to date alongside an exhaustive synthesis of contemporary bog body research.
