- This paper shows that by adding 4% of a novel self-heating nanocomposite to oil and chemical plant pipe walls, there is an improvement in their ease of fabrication, increase in operational strength and pipe discharge, all at a lower cost. Additionally the coating can sense when the pipe becomes damaged. The technique is being considered by the Iraq Ministry of Oil for one of their refineries, where the lead author now works. There is enormous potential in various industrial applications across a wide range of sectors.
