- This paper presents a novel viable speed controller design for a prominent brushless doubly-fed generator technology which may offer the higher reliability, maintenance-free operation and lower cost of wind turbines without a vulnerable shaft position sensor. The work has initiated collaborations with the research groups from both academia (eg Strathclyde https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijepes.2018.04.007 ) and industry (Siemens) leading to an invited keynote lecture at the international conference on Environmentally Friendly Energies and Applications (EFEA, Belgrade, Sept 2016).
