- This monograph engages with a large body of literature and draws on and presents extensive original primary research. The collection of the empirical data was time-consuming: writing was preceded by 10 months’ field work comprising 32 interviews (1-2 hours each) with criminal justice and other professionals across Northern Ireland, along with coding and analysis. The book also incorporates an extensive inter-disciplinary review of a range of literatures including ‘childhood’, media/social media, gender and victimhood, as well as risk and regulatory discourses. Thus, the book demonstrates a sustained research effort, investigating a complex research theme and took 3 years to complete.
