- 'Christian spirituality in 15th century Spain: between court and monasteries' situates Spanish mysticism in the context of broader historical, social and cultural developments in the 15th century. These include the end of the Christian reconquest, the homogenising efforts of conversion that required knowledge of other faiths, and a nostalgic revival of Provençal aesthetics and Neoplatonic ideals. The book explores the Iberian mystical canon and investigates the ways that ideas about spirituality, creation, love and the individual travelled between the court and the monastery, presenting Spanish mysticism as the culmination of multiple intertwined currents.
