- This 86,000-word monograph aims to establish new information about the content of ten lost plays from the period 1580–1642. To achieve this it has to develop both a critical vocabulary for talking about lost plays, and also a theory and praxis around the use of text corpora in this sort of search, both of which will serve subsequent researchers in the whole field of studies of early modern lost plays. The material brought to bear is exceptionally wide-ranging, including primary sources in French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, and Latin.
